Petrolio, 2024
(Leather, inkjet prints)

Petrolio is an installation part of a broader body of work entitled Please, don’t ever come down. Drawing from an intricate personal experience, Zanin explores the father-daughter relationship through the metaphor of the falcon and its prey. It is a poetic narrative of inheritance, evolution, and metamorphosis, addressing familial ties of blood, dreamlike and imaginary connections, and the relationship between humans and animals.
The work examines the intersection of memory, material, and identity, combining photography, fragments of archival images, and leather. Using leather, a material widely employed in falconry, the artist reflects on its symbolic implications and its role in contemporary society, emphasizing the delicate boundary between protection and control.
